Saudi Film Commission Joins AFCI to Elevate Global Presence
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — The Saudi Film Commission has joined the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) to reinforce its role in the global film industry. AFCI includes over 360 film commissions from more than 40 countries. It serves as the world’s only international network focused on advancing film production through training, collaboration, and shared best practices.
This membership allows Saudi Arabia to expand its reach in global cinema. Through AFCI, the Commission will connect with international partners, gain access to training resources, and stay updated on emerging industry trends. The move also supports national goals to diversify the economy and position Saudi Arabia as a regional film production leader.
The Film Commission will use its AFCI membership to empower Saudi filmmakers and production companies. Local talents will benefit from greater access to global projects, co-production deals, and international exposure. In turn, this will strengthen Saudi Arabia’s creative economy and promote cultural exchange.
Moreover, the initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s broader Vision 2030 strategy. It supports efforts to build a vibrant entertainment sector and create job opportunities in creative industries.
Established in 1975, AFCI is the only global nonprofit network of film commissions. It offers members support in professional development, international networking, and access to funding opportunities. Its platform connects governments, production houses, and investors across continents to stimulate economic growth through cinema.
By joining this network, the Saudi Film Commission will promote Saudi Arabia as a filming destination and support infrastructure growth for the national film sector.
