Riyadh – The National Center for Palms and Dates, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, has announced the launch of the Seasonal Markets System. This mandatory electronic system aims to regulate and manage the trading of dates in seasonal markets across the Kingdom, enhancing the efficiency and quality of market data. Registration in the system is required for anyone wishing to sell, buy, or market dates.
The new system facilitates easy transactions and recording of trades, maintains financial dealings, and allows for the simple selection of a marketing service provider. Additionally, it provides real-time sales tracking, access to a greater number of markets, and insights into average wholesale date prices across all markets.
The National Center for Palms and Dates emphasized the system’s role in achieving the center’s strategic goals by improving the efficiency of seasonal date markets and promoting sustainable development in the palm and date sector. The system offers a comprehensive range of agricultural and marketing services.
The system targets farmers, marketers (service providers), and buyers. Key features include enhancing sales methods, promoting good sales practices, invigorating date markets, attracting buyers, increasing job opportunities, and creating financing solutions through programs designed in collaboration with relevant entities.
Currently, Saudi Arabia boasts over 36 million palm trees, producing more than 1.6 million tons of dates annually, with exports valued at SAR 1.462 billion reaching 119 countries worldwide.
It is noteworthy that entry to seasonal date markets will only be permitted after registering in the Seasonal Markets System, ensuring the rights of all stakeholders and enhancing the sector’s competitiveness both locally and internationally. The center urges farmers, marketers, and buyers to register promptly through the following link: [sm.ncpd.gov.sa](https://sm.ncpd.gov.sa).
