Buraidah — The Qassim branch of the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification has signed a tree-planting agreement with an environmental company to plant 400,000 native trees across the region as part of Saudi Arabia’s drive to expand green cover and promote ecological sustainability.

The agreement supports the Kingdom’s broader Green Saudi Initiative, which aims to combat desertification, improve air quality, and enhance biodiversity. The project also aligns with Vision 2030’s environmental goals.

Branch Director Ali Al-Asmari emphasized the vital role of private sector involvement, including private nature reserves, in advancing afforestation efforts and raising public awareness about the importance of planting native species suited to local ecosystems.

The campaign reflects the support of the Emir of Qassim Region, who seeks to transform the area into a “green oasis” through sustained tree-planting and environmental stewardship.
