Sakaka, Al-Jouf –In celebration of World Bee Day, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture’s Al-Jouf branch, in partnership with the Beekeepers Cooperative Association in Dumat Al-Jandal, launched a bee initiative that saw the planting of 800 seedlings in Wadi Al-Shaqiq.

The campaign, under the slogan “Beekeepers, Partners in Success – Let’s Leave a Mark”, seeks to support environmental sustainability, restore natural vegetation, and promote biodiversity. Bees play a critical role in pollinating wild flora, which helps preserve the natural ecosystem.

This bee initiative is part of the Ministry’s strategy to strengthen community partnerships and support the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative, which aims to expand green cover and combat climate change across the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia’s apiculture sector includes over 25,600 beekeepers, producing 20 varieties of honey such as sidr, talh, and samar. The Ministry is also preparing more than 1,500 trainees for careers in beekeeping, reflecting the sector’s rising importance in both ecology and the economy.

By integrating local farming, conservation, and training efforts, the initiative underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to Vision 2030 and a greener, more sustainable future.
