The Saudi Ports Authority, “Mawani,” has announced the addition of the new “CBS” shipping service to Jeddah Islamic Port, facilitated by the Chinese shipping line “New New Line.”

This initiative is part of Mawani’s ongoing efforts to improve Saudi Arabia’s ranking in the Global Maritime Connectivity Index, enhance operational efficiency at ports, and strengthen the Kingdom’s connectivity with global markets. These efforts support national exports and imports, aligning with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to establish the Kingdom as a global logistics hub and a central link between three continents.

The new shipping service will connect Jeddah Islamic Port with the ports of Tianjin, Qingdao, Shanghai, and Guangzhou in China, as well as Damietta in Egypt. This service will operate on a weekly basis with a capacity of up to 4,000 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units). It is the fourteenth service added by Mawani in collaboration with major global shipping lines since the beginning of 2024.

Jeddah Islamic Port is a significant logistical and commercial hub on the Red Sea coast, covering an area of 12.5 square kilometers and featuring 62 berths. The port is equipped with several specialized stations and advanced facilities, including two container handling terminals, an integrated logistics village for warehousing and re-export, two general cargo terminals, two ship repair and maintenance docks, and multiple berths for marine services such as towing and maritime guidance. Additionally, the port hosts fully equipped halls for receiving pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors.
