Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has launched a new e-commerce payment interface. The initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize payment systems, support the growth of fintech, and advance the Kingdom’s digital economy.

SAMA e-commerce payment interface supports secure transactions and innovation

In a statement on Monday, SAMA confirmed that the interface simplifies integration with Saudi Arabia’s national payment system, Mada. It offers unified technical specifications for service providers and includes centralized registration for financial institutions.

The system also enables banks to deliver innovative financing options. Advanced features, such as payment card tokenization, improve transaction security. Additionally, the interface ensures seamless payment processing between Mada and global networks. This provides users with more secure and flexible payment options.

Saudi digital payments growth aligned with Vision 2030

The interface is part of SAMA’s strategy to enhance the electronic payment ecosystem. It also supports the Kingdom’s Fintech Strategy, e-commerce growth, and national digital payment targets.

SAMA stated that the interface improves the user experience for both consumers and merchants. It also supports business growth across Saudi Arabia’s growing online retail market.

By strengthening national payment infrastructure, the new system contributes to Vision 2030 goals. These include building a competitive, cashless, and technology-driven economy.

The Saudi Standard’s View: Seamless Payments Are Key to Saudi Arabia’s Digital Economy

SAMA’s launch of the e-commerce payment interface demonstrates the importance of secure payment systems to the Kingdom’s fintech growth. As online shopping expands, fast and secure transactions are critical—not only for convenience but also for competitiveness and economic strength.

The system’s use of advanced technology, such as tokenization, reflects global security standards. At the same time, it simplifies onboarding for merchants and financial institutions. This reduces barriers for businesses entering Saudi Arabia’s national payments system.

The initiative aligns with Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s targets for a cashless economy. It expands digital payment options and builds trust in e-commerce. Both are vital for long-term, sustainable growth in the sector.

Saudi Arabia’s success in delivering secure, accessible payment solutions will help position it as a regional leader in digital commerce. SAMA’s interface is an important step toward that goal.
