Jeddah, Saudi Arabia — Bupa Arabia for Cooperative Insurance has gained shareholder approval for its latest Bupa Arabia dividend and share buyback plan. The decision came during the company’s Extraordinary General Assembly meeting on June 30, 2025.
In a statement to Tadawul Saudi on Tuesday, Bupa Arabia confirmed the distribution of SAR 600 million in cash dividends for the 2024 fiscal year. Shareholders will receive SAR 4 per share, at 40% of the nominal value. A total of 150 million shares qualify for the payout.
Dividend Distribution and Share Buyback Plan
Shareholders eligible for dividends must own shares by the end of the General Assembly meeting and appear in the shareholder registry at the Securities Depository Center (Edaa) by the second trading day after the meeting. Dividend payments will begin on July 17, 2025.
The Assembly also approved the repurchase of up to 1.4 million treasury shares. These shares will fund Bupa Arabia’s long-term employee incentive program for 2025 to 2029. The company will use available cash for the buyback.
The Board of Directors can complete the share repurchase within 12 months. Bupa Arabia will hold the shares for no more than 10 years before allocating them to employees.
Shareholders also authorized the Board to distribute interim dividends semi-annually or quarterly for the 2025 fiscal year.
The Saudi Standard’s View: Dividend Boosts Shareholders, Buyback Strengthens Retention
The approved Bupa Arabia dividend and share buyback reflect the company’s effort to reward shareholders and invest in its workforce. The SAR 600 million payout supports market expectations for reliable dividends among Saudi-listed firms.
The share repurchase program shows Bupa Arabia’s focus on retaining key employees. Talent retention remains critical as competition rises in Saudi Arabia’s insurance sector.
The option for interim dividends and structured buybacks highlights Bupa Arabia’s confidence in its financial strength. Yet, successful execution will depend on future earnings and overall market stability.
