Broader Insights: Digital Habits and Spending Behavior

The weekly rise in POS spending indicates steady consumer confidence. While food and retail are mainstays, durable goods and services, such as electronics, transportation, and education, also posted meaningful numbers. Moreover, the consistent growth in digital payments highlights the success of SAMA’s push toward a cashless economy.

Sectors such as telecommunications and entertainment demonstrated modest yet stable performance. Their transaction values—SAR 136.1 million and SAR 287.8 million, respectively—suggest a steady pace of digital lifestyle consumption.

The Saudi Standard’s View: Momentum Builds in Consumer Confidence

This latest Saudi POS transactions data for July 2025 reflects more than just week-on-week growth. It signals the resilience of Saudi Arabia’s consumer economy and the traction of the national digital payment infrastructure.

As F&B and retail sustain strong engagement, the broader POS activity across healthcare, transport, and electronics suggests that Saudi households continue to prioritize quality of life and mobility.

Equally important is the geographic distribution. Riyadh’s leadership is expected, but the steady growth across secondary cities illustrates balanced expansion—an essential goal under Vision 2030.

Looking ahead, sustained momentum will depend on maintaining this consumer confidence while expanding merchant participation and enhancing the adoption of payment technology.
