Madinah, Saudi Arabia — The Madinah construction sector recorded strong growth in 2024, according to a report by the region’s Chamber of Commerce. The building and contracting industry expanded 25.6% in activity volume compared to 2023. This reflects broader growth in infrastructure and real estate development.

Over the past five years, construction activity in Madinah grew at an average annual rate of 19.5%. By the end of 2024, there were 32,697 active projects across 13,608 commercial registrations. This growth highlights increasing investor confidence and a business-friendly environment.

Moreover, the report identified the sector as a key driver of local economic performance. It supports infrastructure upgrades, real estate development, and dynamic responses to supply and demand trends. The Madinah construction sector also provides over 24% of total employment, making it the largest employer in the region.

Strategic Projects Fuel Sector Momentum

The report links employment growth in the sector to major ongoing projects. These include housing initiatives, infrastructure expansion, and transport development. The increase also reflects fast-tracked implementation of government and private sector plans.

Tourism growth and urban development continue to raise demand for new projects. The Chamber’s Contractors Committee is working to support the industry with training, advocacy, and international partnerships.

With ongoing infrastructure investment in Madinah, the construction activity growth trend is expected to continue. The building and contracting industry is central to Vision 2030 goals. It plays a vital role in strengthening infrastructure, enabling private investment, and creating jobs across the region.
