Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — In collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CITC) has launched a new digital service to support Hajj digital connectivity for international pilgrims.

The initiative allows foreign pilgrims to obtain digital SIM cards directly through local telecom providers’ mobile apps. This eliminates the need to visit service centers or wait to reach their accommodations. The eSIM activation process is fully remote and verified through biometric data via the Absher platform, making telecom support for Hajj more accessible and immediate.

The service is available to all officially registered pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj season. Once they begin the registration process with any licensed local provider, pilgrims can finalize identity verification and activate digital SIM services for pilgrims before leaving the airport.

According to CITC, this step reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to digital transformation. It is also a practical example of how Saudi Arabia integrates technology to improve pilgrim services. By leveraging tools like eSIM activation via Absher, the Kingdom ensures that Hajj digital connectivity begins the moment pilgrims arrive.

Moreover, the initiative is part of broader efforts to serve guests of the holy sites through seamless digital services. It enhances safety, lowers costs, and guarantees reliable access to communication without delay.

The Commission emphasized that this offering supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 agenda by merging innovation with hospitality. It also strengthens the Kingdom’s reputation for service excellence during the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
