Saudi Oil Discovery Confirmed in Partitioned Zone
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — A new Saudi oil discovery has been confirmed in the Partitioned Zone shared with Kuwait, marking the first significant find since production resumed in mid-2020. The announcement was made jointly by the governments of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, following successful exploration by Al-Wafrah Joint Operations.
The discovery occurred at the North Al-Wafrah Wara-Burgan field, approximately 5 kilometers north of the leading Al-Wafrah site. Oil flowed from the Wara reservoir in the Wara-Burgan-1 well at rates exceeding 500 barrels per day, with an API gravity between 26 and 27 degrees.
