Buraidah, Saudi Arabia — The Qassim region marked World No Tobacco Day in Saudi Arabia with 18 awareness events, educating over 2,500 people on the risks of tobacco and offering support to those looking to quit.

The Qassim Health Cluster organized the campaign through its Tobacco Control Program. Over the course of ten days, teams conducted exhibitions, lectures, and outreach activities at malls, schools, universities, and government offices. These events delivered key messages on the health risks of tobacco and the benefits of quitting.

Officials from the health cluster highlighted the long-term impact of these efforts. They explained that quitting tobacco leads to immediate health improvements, including improved heart function and a lower risk of cancer. By engaging the public, the cluster aims to reduce tobacco use and promote healthier lifestyles.

World No Tobacco Day Saudi Arabia, observed every year on May 31, is led by the World Health Organization (WHO). The 2025 theme — “Awareness of Tobacco Harms and the Dangers of Marketing” — urges governments and communities to counter misleading tobacco promotions.

Qassim’s campaign supports both national health strategies and international goals. It reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to preventive healthcare and its broader Vision 2030 objective to enhance public well-being.
