Dammam, Saudi Arabia — The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has added the Himalaya Express shipping service, operated by MSC, to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and Jubail Commercial Port. This move supports national exports and raises the ports’ competitive standing regionally and globally.

Himalaya Express Saudi Ports to Connect 12 Global Destinations

The Himalaya Express links the Saudi ports with 12 major destinations. These include Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi (UAE), Hamad Port (Qatar), Nhava Sheva, Mundra, and Vizhinjam (India), Sines (Portugal), Valencia, Barcelona, and Malaga (Spain), and Gioia Tauro and Genoa (Italy). Additionally, the service offers a capacity of up to 14,000 TEUs.

This addition enhances operational efficiency at the Kingdom’s eastern seaports. It also aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy. The strategy aims to establish Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa.

King Abdulaziz Port and Jubail Commercial Port play vital roles in trade along the Arabian Gulf. They offer advanced operations, integrated services, and strategic value to the national supply chain.

The Saudi Standard’s View: Ports that Link and Lead

The Himalaya Express is more than a shipping service—it is a trade corridor, a strategic artery through which Saudi Arabia channels its economic ambitions. By joining global and regional maritime networks, the Kingdom’s eastern ports are transforming from infrastructure assets into pivotal logistics anchors.

This isn’t just about volume or throughput; it’s about positioning. As more shipping lines select Saudi ports as regional hubs, the Kingdom strengthens its grip on value-added logistics and reshapes traditional trade routes. These enhancements also signal a more profound structural shift: ports are no longer endpoints. They are platforms for industrial integration, regional influence, and export diversification.

With strategic services like the Himalaya Express, Saudi Arabia demonstrates that ports can be both links and levers—connecting continents while lifting domestic capability. In the context of Vision 2030, each new route is a step toward sovereign logistics leadership, which ensures the Kingdom’s global supply chain relevance.
