Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — The Saudi Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that Saudi tourism 2024 marked another historic year for the Kingdom’s tourism sector. According to its newly released annual report, the country welcomed 116 million domestic and international tourists, up 6% from 2023. This milestone reinforces the role of tourism as a key driver in the national development agenda under Vision 2030.

Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb attributed the growth to strong leadership support and inter-agency coordination. He emphasized that tourism is central to Saudi Arabia’s economic transformation and contributes culturally and financially to national goals.

International Tourism to Saudi Arabia Reaches 30 Million

The report highlights that approximately 30 million international tourists visited Saudi Arabia in 2024, the highest figure on record. This marks an 8% increase over the previous year. Spending by these visitors reached SAR 168.5 billion, a sharp 19% rise from 2023. The increase aligns with recent efforts to expand inbound tourism infrastructure and simplify visa access for global travelers.

These developments support Saudi Arabia’s ambition to position itself as a global destination, bridging cultures and markets while preserving national heritage.

Domestic Tourism in Saudi Arabia Holds Strong

Domestic tourism also showed consistent growth. The number of residents traveling within the Kingdom reached 86.2 million, reflecting a 5% increase year-on-year. Domestic spending totaled SAR 115.3 billion, indicating steady local engagement with national destinations. These numbers suggest that domestic travel remains a vital component of the tourism ecosystem, even as international interest grows.

The Ministry continues to promote internal tourism as a sustainable growth strategy. New campaigns and regional events encourage Saudis to explore more of their own country.

Saudi Tourism Spending Reaches SAR 284 Billion

In total, spending by tourists—both foreign and domestic—reached SAR 284 billion in 2024. This represents an 11% increase compared to 2023, illustrating the sector’s expanding role in Saudi Arabia’s economic landscape. With these gains, tourism contributes directly to job creation, service industry expansion, and broader Vision 2030 diversification efforts.
