London, United Kingdom — Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom have signed the One-Stop Security agreement to improve the passenger experience and streamline international air travel. The agreement was signed in London by Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), and Dr. Rania Leontaridi, Director General for Aviation, Maritime, and Security at the UK Department for Transport.
The Saudi-UK One-Stop Security agreement allows security screenings at UK airports to be recognized for passengers traveling to Saudi Arabia and beyond. This eliminates repetitive procedures while maintaining the highest standards of safety and security.
Advancing Air Connectivity Under Vision 2030
This agreement strengthens Saudi Arabia’s role as a global aviation hub. It also enhances the passenger experience. The initiative supports the National Aviation Strategy Saudi Arabia, which aligns with Vision 2030 air transport goals to improve airport efficiency and boost international connectivity.
Mohammed bin Saad Al-Fawzan, Executive Vice President for Aviation Security at GACA, emphasized the significance of this partnership. He noted that recognizing UK airport security checks reflects mutual trust between the nations’ security systems. It also enables more focus on advanced, risk-based screening procedures.
The agreement will reduce passenger waiting times and simplify connecting flight processes. It covers the recognition of passenger and baggage screening at UK airports, eliminating the need for re-screening or baggage unloading in Saudi airports.
Enhancing Passenger Experience and Security Collaboration
The initiative will significantly enhance the Saudi airport passenger experience by reducing transit times and shortening ground times. It also supports global aviation security cooperation through knowledge exchange and joint risk assessments.
Al-Fawzan stated that the agreement demonstrates both nations’ commitment to maintaining the highest international security standards. It aligns with Annex 17 of the Chicago Convention and ICAO guidelines.
This agreement is part of GACA’s broader effort to transform Saudi airports into globally competitive hubs. It leverages new technologies and digital solutions to improve operations and traveler satisfaction.
The Saudi-UK partnership reflects the shared goals of both countries. It enhances aviation security, facilitates global travel, and promotes economic growth.
The Saudi Standard’s View: Securing Global Travel with Trusted Partnerships
The Saudi-UK One-Stop Security Agreement reflects a growing global trend. Countries are increasingly recognizing trusted airport security measures to ease passenger journeys. For Saudi Arabia, this marks evident progress in transforming the Kingdom into a central air transit hub.
By accepting security screenings from UK airports, Saudi Arabia enhances operational efficiency while maintaining strict international standards. This reduces congestion, eliminates duplicate checks, and creates a smoother transit experience.
Moreover, the agreement aligns with Vision 2030’s key priorities: global connectivity, airport competitiveness, and service excellence. It shows Saudi Arabia’s ability to adopt international best practices while maintaining national sovereignty in aviation security.
The partnership also strengthens Saudi-UK collaboration, encouraging knowledge exchange and joint risk management. It positions Saudi airports as world-class gateways that meet global expectations for safety and efficiency.
In today’s competitive aviation sector, agreements like this are essential. They help Saudi Arabia advance as a trusted, internationally recognized aviation hub.
