Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — Tarshid has achieved the highest-rated LEED Platinum Certification in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, reinforcing its role as a national leader in energy efficiency and sustainability.
The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) announced that its Riyadh headquarters earned 96 points under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED v4 Operations and Maintenance – Interiors recertification category. This achievement makes it the second-highest-scoring project globally.
Tarshid’s sustainability achievements reflect Saudi Arabia’s leadership in energy efficiency.
This milestone follows Tarshid’s 2023 LEED Platinum Certification for Interior Design and Construction (ID+C) of commercial buildings. Together, these certifications highlight the company’s ongoing commitment to global sustainability standards and energy efficiency in Saudi Arabia.
Located on King Abdullah Road in Riyadh, the headquarters integrates innovative systems for energy management. These include motion and daylight sensors, CO₂ detectors, a building management system (BMS), and solar panels. The building’s innovative facade helps reduce thermal loads while maximizing natural daylight.
“This achievement is the result of Tarshid’s ongoing efforts to implement energy efficiency standards. It reaffirms the company’s dedication to sustainability and environmental protection,” said Waled bin Abdullah Al Ghreri, Tarshid’s CEO and Board Member.
Saudi green building leadership aligns with national sustainability goals.
The LEED Platinum certification is recognized globally as the highest standard for energy-efficient and sustainable building design. As a result, Tarshid’s accomplishment underscores Saudi Arabia’s growing role in sustainable architecture and eco-friendly infrastructure.
Established by the Public Investment Fund in 2017, Tarshid was created through collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance, and the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC). The company leads national energy efficiency programs, promotes renewable energy sources, and supports the development of smart infrastructure.
Tarshid’s efforts contribute to energy savings, help build a robust energy efficiency industry, and support Saudi Arabia’s sustainability objectives—including the creation of new employment opportunities.
The Saudi Standard’s View: Global Recognition Elevates Saudi Energy Efficiency Ambitions
Tarshid’s LEED Platinum achievement reflects more than building performance. It highlights Saudi Arabia’s growing commitment to global sustainability benchmarks and advanced energy management.
As the Kingdom accelerates Vision 2030, achievements like this reinforce investor confidence and showcase Saudi capabilities. High-performance buildings play a crucial role in reducing emissions, enhancing efficiency, and fostering resilient cities.
Continued progress requires innovative technologies, clear regulations, and replicating proven models, such as Tarshid’s headquarters. Notably, such milestones strengthen Saudi Arabia’s global position in sustainable development and support long-term energy diversification
