Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — The Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities has announced the return of Purple Saturday Saudi Arabia. The fifth edition will take place on July 26, 2025. The initiative runs annually on the last Saturday of July. It involves collaboration with government entities, private sector companies, and non-profit organizations.

Purple Saturday Saudi Arabia engages businesses in disability empowerment

Purple Saturday is part of national efforts to empower persons with disabilities. It promotes social inclusion and encourages private-sector participation. The initiative provides tangible incentives for businesses to develop inclusive programs and support accessibility.

Participating retailers can offer exclusive promotions for persons with disabilities. These discounts do not count toward their seasonal quota, giving businesses the flexibility to support inclusion while maintaining commercial targets.

Over the years, more than 3,500 outlets across Saudi Arabia have participated. The initiative has also expanded to Gulf countries, showing steady regional growth.

The Purple Saturday Award recognizes excellence in inclusion

For 2025, the Authority will introduce the Purple Saturday Award. This new recognition honors outstanding companies, offers, and initiatives that empower persons with disabilities. The goal is to promote excellence, increase participation, and drive innovation in social integration programs.

Interested businesses can register on the Authority’s official website and submit initiatives via the National Platform for Social Responsibility, which documents corporate contributions to community empowerment efforts.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to improving services for people with disabilities and continues to work with various sectors to build an inclusive society with equal opportunities for all.

The Saudi Standard’s View: Inclusion as Competitive Advantage

The return of Purple Saturday, Saudi Arabia, shows how inclusivity is becoming both a social obligation and a business opportunity. As the Kingdom advances its Vision 2030 goals, more companies see the value of accessible spaces for persons with disabilities.

The initiative’s structure is practical. Businesses can provide discounts for persons with disabilities without impacting their seasonal promotions. This balance allows them to support inclusivity while meeting commercial objectives.

The new Purple Saturday Award further strengthens the initiative. Honoring companies that lead in accessibility and empowerment encourages broader private-sector participation.

When inclusivity becomes part of corporate strategy, businesses enhance their reputation and expand their customer base. They also align with national priorities. The steady growth of Purple Saturday Saudi Arabia signals that more companies recognize the value of building an inclusive economy based on equal opportunity.
