Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — Saudi Arabia has launched the second edition of the Recycle Your Device initiative to promote e-waste recycling and support digital inclusion. The campaign targets individuals and businesses across the Kingdom. It also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader environmental sustainability and circular economy goals.

The initiative is led by the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the National Center for Waste Management (Mawan), Aramco, Roshn Group, Ertiqa, Jahez, Zain, SMSA, the Saudi Green Initiative, the Saudi Esports Federation, SIRC, and Co-Kitchens.

Boosting Saudi Arabia’s Circular Economy and Social Impact

The initiative promotes the recycling of electronic devices to reduce waste and lower greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, it aims to provide technology to disadvantaged families by repairing used devices. The program follows strict data security measures to ensure user privacy.

CST has launched an online platform explaining how to deliver devices and which types qualify for recycling. Accepted devices include:

  • Mobile phones and landlines
  • Tablets, modems, and printers
  • Desktop computers and laptops

Participants can engage through two tracks:

  1. Dismantling Devices: Valuable materials are recovered and sold, with revenue donated to social programs.
  2. Repair and Donation: Devices are securely refurbished and donated to families in need.

This program builds on Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainability through the Saudi Green Initiative and national circular economy strategies.

Progress on E-Waste Recycling and Digital Inclusion

The first edition of Recycle Your Device, launched in 2022, achieved significant results. More than 100,000 devices were collected, valued at over 30 million Saudi riyals. This marked an important step toward reducing electronic waste and expanding digital access.

The current edition builds on these efforts by increasing public awareness, fostering private-sector partnerships, and promoting social responsibility.
