Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — Alinma Bank has pledged SAR 6 million to support the Alinma Bank Baby Genome project, marking a major step for Saudi genetic research.

The agreement was signed under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the King Salman Center for Disability Research.

This partnership comes through Alinma’s sustainability and social responsibility program, AMAD. It reflects the Bank’s commitment to promoting healthcare innovation and serving the community.

Alinma Bank Baby Genome Project: A First for Saudi Arabia

The Alinma Bank Baby Genome project is the first of its kind in the Kingdom and the region. It will provide full-genome sequencing for 1,000 newborns using advanced Whole-Genome Sequencing (WGS) technology.

This research spans all 13 regions of Saudi Arabia. Its goal is to detect genetic disorders early and reduce disease rates. Through early intervention, the project aims to enhance newborn survival and improve health outcomes.

The initiative will also establish a national genetic database. This resource will track hereditary patterns across the population and help advance future medical research.

Dr. Abdulmalik Abdullah Al-Hogail, Chairman of Alinma Bank, emphasized the value of this initiative. “We are proud to support this project,” he stated. “This partnership reflects Alinma’s dedication to serving humanity and delivering sustainable scientific solutions.”
