Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — ACWA Power’s NOMAC Maintenance Energy Services (NMES) has partnered with EthosEnergy to launch a groundbreaking on-site rotor maintenance service for GE Frame 7 gas turbines in Saudi Arabia. The ACWA NMES EthosEnergy rotor solution is designed to cut service timelines, lower logistics costs, and reduce operational risk for large-scale turbine operators in the Kingdom.

This collaboration focuses on Rotor Lifetime Assessment and Extension (RLE) for GE Frame 7E, EA, and FA turbines. It includes non-destructive testing (NDT), precision machining, rotor part replacement, and scheduled inspections.

Field-Level Maintenance at Workshop Standards

NMES, the field service arm of ACWA Power, brings workshop-quality capabilities directly to power plants. By delivering rotor unstacking, laser welding, on-site balancing, and inspections on location, it eliminates the need for complex international logistics.

EthosEnergy adds its rotor technology expertise for GE turbines ranging from Frame 3 to Frame 9. The company supplies certified parts and refurbishment services that support NMES’s efficient field execution.

Improved Outage Management and Rotor Lifecycle Extension

The integrated RLE package includes:

  • Supply of new or refurbished seed rotors
  • On-site rotor assessments and life extension
  • Rotor overhaul and restacking
  • In-place machining and balancing
  • Open, inspect, and close services during hot gas path or major inspections

Harald Schmit, EVP of Field Services at ACWA Power and Head of NMES, said, “We’re excited to work with EthosEnergy, combining on-site capabilities with essential parts and technical know-how.”

Patricia Gonzalez, EVP at EthosEnergy, added, “Together, we’re helping operators reduce downtime, cut costs, and manage risk more effectively.”

This collaboration supports Saudi Arabia’s push to localize advanced energy services and improve the reliability of national infrastructure with in-country solutions.

THE SAUDI STANDARD’S VIEW: ACWA-EthosEnergy Deal Elevates Local Turbine Maintenance Standards

The partnership between NMES and EthosEnergy introduces a major step forward in Saudi Arabia’s industrial capabilities. By offering a localized RLE solution for GE Frame 7 turbines, the ACWA NMES EthosEnergy rotor solution brings strategic and technical value to the Kingdom’s energy sector.

The program supports Vision 2030 by reducing reliance on foreign services. At the same time, it strengthens national expertise in high-value turbine maintenance.

The on-site services reduce downtime and eliminate the risks associated with shipping heavy equipment overseas. As a result, turnaround times improve and national energy reliability is enhanced.

Combining EthosEnergy’s OEM-alternative knowledge with NMES’s in-field skills produces a powerful solution for Saudi utilities. The added services—like NDT and seed rotor supply—further support asset lifecycle planning and cost control.

This initiative signals Saudi Arabia’s emergence as a regional center for energy maintenance innovation. It highlights the maturity of the Kingdom’s industrial sector and its ability to deliver world-class solutions through strategic partnerships.
